Andrea and John of Pour Johnny's in Castle Shannon
Andrea and John of Pour Johnny's in Castle Shannon

If coffee is on your mind, there is a new coffee shop in Pittsburgh called Pour Johnny's. Owned and operated by John and his partner, Andrea. I first met John and Andrea at their antique store in Castle Shannon, Poor Johnny's, before the pandemic. I cannot remember the exact dates, as I feel like I have known them for a long time. After speaking with Andrea and John about their impressive autopsy table, which was displayed in the front of their Castle Shannon shop, I eventually let them know that, at the time, I was a local paranormal investigator.

Poor Johnny's was one of the most fascinating paranormal investigations I had the opportunity to participate in. Antiques carry so many spirits with them, and it was fun to have that store as a place to go and test my own realm of knowledge on the subject. John and Andrea eventually relocated their business endeavor to West Middletown, Pennsylvania, which was even farther away from where I lived than Castle Shannon at the time. However, I still made the trek to go out and support them. At one point or another, during their work, I once went to the antique store and found a coffee brewmaster suddenly near the register. Andrea asked me what I wanted. I asked for a chai tea latte, and from then on, I realized that Andrea had a gift for making them. She made the most flavorful chai tea latte I had ever tasted. It was a top-secret recipe in West Middletown, PA, far away from civilization.

Recently, from the success of their coffee business alongside their antique sales, I discovered via their Instagram page that they were expanding into the coffee business. Poor Johnny's became Pour Johnny's. John and Andrea are genuinely two of the hardest-working and nicest people that anyone can come into contact with.

Their shop is located in Castle Shannon at 4136 Library Rd. Suite B6, Castle Shannon, PA 15234. They are open Monday through Friday from 6 am to 2 pm, Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm, and Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm. Stop in and try one of Andrea's Chai Tea lattes. It's fall, and they just announced a Cinnamon Spice Chai Latte. They also offer other beverages, and EVERYTHING there is phenomenal. Every time I have gone into their store, I have tried something different. John is a smoothie king. I had a raspberry smoothie with protein powder and whipped cream, easily the best smoothie I have ever had from anywhere. Sometimes when ordering a protein smoothie, if it isn't blended right, one can taste the protein. This smoothie was blended to perfection, and there was no protein taste.

They also enjoy delicious pastries from local bakeries, including Brown Bear Bread Co. and Jonesy Cakes, as well as other establishments. Recently, they were selling candles from Charleston Candle Co., which was described to me before I purchased a "Holy City Haunts" candle. The candle is a slow burn, similar to Yankee Candle, but with higher quality and lasting longer.

They have now been open for about two weeks and are easily among the top five best locally owned coffee shops in the Pittsburgh area. Stop in and say hello.
